24th August 2017 Windsurfing: Llanfairfechan Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: F4/F5 Surf / Sea State: smooth chop and samll wind swe Air Temperature: 20 Sea Temperature: 15.6 Weather: sun Max Speed: 22.6/2secs (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 23.1 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Quite high tide that brings white horses so rigged 115/6.5m rather then 6m it looked; I should have rigged 6m as it is a much better sail and old 6,5m easily gets uncomfortable and loses power as wind climbs. Wind swung around a bit so even though sailed to with 600m of Puffin island still only just made it back to jetty; wind was dropping close to island and only on Google earth did I realise how close Rik and I got. Think 32cm is too stiff for me on 6.5m as when loaded spins out so changed to 36cm which got upwind better.. Could have gone much quicker if a decent 6.5m. Seb joined us later. Also used 96/6m which is slower and wind decreased, but nicer to sail and ride down small wind swells |
